Pyramid Level Completely Restored

The Memorial’s Pyramid with scaffolding above the Observation Deck, October 15, 2014.

The stepped Pyramid above the observation deck, and the beautiful stylized finial that completes it, are iconic symbols of the Memorial, reflecting its role as a beacon of Masonic Light.

The Pyramid level required very extensive restoration work. Including:

  • Removed all degraded mortar.
  • Moved disjointed stones back into position.
  • Re-mortared all stone joints.
  • Installed lead weather cap on all mortar points.
  • Installed new LED lighting on corners of the Pyramid.
  • Ensured that water penetration was remediated.

We are happy to say that all of this work is now completed, thanks to your generous support. Today, the stone at the top of the Memorial is as bright as when it was first installed. Decades of grime have been removed. All of the water penetration issues have been resolved. New LED lighting has been installed. And now, our crew continues their work on the rest of the building.
