Statue Rededication Ceremony

On February 22, 2025, the statue of George Washington in Memorial Hall at The George Washington Masonic National Memorial will be rededicated — 75 years to the day it was originally dedicated by President (and Most Worshipful Brother) Harry Truman.

The speaker for the 75^th anniversary dedication will be President Truman’s grandson, Ill. Brother Clifton Truman Daniel, 33º. The rededication will begin at 2 p.m. in the theater of the Memorial. Shortly thereafter, attendees will move to Memorial Hall for brief remarks.

With the statue being the gift of the Order of DeMolay, it is appropriate that a multi-jurisdictional DeMolay initiation (both degrees) will be held at 10 a.m. that day in the North Lodge Room at the Memorial. Following the initiation, lunch (by advance reservation only on the form on the Memorial’s website) will be held at the Valley of Alexandria Scottish Rite building (1460 West Braddock Road, Alexandria) within a couple of miles of the Memorial. A display of materials related to the original dedication and the statue’s creator will be available for review.

Dress for the day is coat and tie.

PLEASE NOTE: The Memorial’s annual George Washington Birthday Gala will be held beginning at 5 p.m. on the day of the rededication. Please help us prepare for that event by leaving the Memorial as quickly as possible after the rededication.

Registration

To register for the event, please complete the form (one person per form) which can be found at the link at the end of these details. One person may register per each form. All registration fees ($20 per person) may be paid only by credit card. Registration for the event must be submitted no later than January 25, 2025. No onsite registrations will be accepted.

As you register, you will be asked to indicate your attendance at the initiation, lunch and the rededication. Please provide an answer to each of those options.

Notes about the registration form

You will be asked to enter your personal information twice, once for registration and once for your credit card payment.

On the page where you enter personal information about your credit card purchase, ignore the box under the box checked “use this as my billing address.”

You will receive our standard, auto generated thank you which is not rededication specific.

Bring a copy of your registration form with you to the event.

Lunch

The form by which you will make your reservation for lunch is on the registration page found at the link at the end of these details. That is the only way you can make a lunch reservation. Please indicate your choice of sandwich and drink (one of each per person); waffle fries are included with each meal. If no information is provided, no lunch will be reserved. Lunch reservations must be submitted by January 25, 2025. No reservations will be accepted after that date.

To most efficiently accommodate attendees, lunch options are limited and cannot be changed or altered; no substitutions. If allergy or some other reason prevents you from choosing one of the options indicated on the website form, you may pursue other choices on your own. If you opt not to make a reservation for the lunch provided, no registration fee refund will be provided as the fee is for the event and lunch is complimentary.

Call the toll-free number listed to reserve your room and use “Memorial Rededication” as the code words to get our special rate. Make your reservations by January 20^th to get our special rate. Because there are multiple properties with similar names in the area, be sure to ask for the hotel by the entire name and address listed here.
