Directions to the Memorial
Driving Directions
By Metro:
- Take yellow or blue line to the King Street Metro Station in Alexandria;
- Use the DASH bus for a free shuttle ride up to the George Washington Masonic Memorial. Check your program for bus routes. Link to Dash Bus: http://www.dashbus.com
By Car:
Driving from Washington, D.C.
- Take 14th Street Bridge to George Washington Parkway going SOUTH toward Alexandria, Virginia;
- The George Washington Parkway becomes Washington Street once you enter The City of Alexandria.
- Make a RIGHT onto King Street;
- You will see the GW Masonic Memorial up ahead. Turn LEFT onto Callahan Drive.
- Make an immediate RIGHT onto the service road which will take you up the hill and around the back of the Memorial for parking.
Driving from Washington, D.C. using I-395:
- Take I-395 South.
- Take exit 5 to merge onto King St/VA-7 E. (approx. 3.3 mi)
- Stay straight on King Street, turn RIGHT onto Callahan Drive.
- Make an immediate RIGHT onto the service road which will take you up the hill and around the back of the Memorial for parking.
Driving from Crystal City:
- Take Jefferson Davis Highway [Route 1] SOUTH ;
- Make a RIGHT onto King Street;
- You will see the GW Masonic Memorial up ahead. Keep going west on King Street and turn LEFT onto Callahan Drive.
- Make an immediate RIGHT onto the service road which will take you up the hill and around the back of the Memorial for parking.
or
- Take Jefferson Davis Highway [Route 1] SOUTH and exit onto ramp to take cross-over toward National Airport;
- Take exit on RIGHT to the George Washington Parkway SOUTH;
- Make a RIGHT onto King Street;
- You will see the GW Masonic Memorial up ahead. Keep going west on King Street and turn LEFT onto Callahan Drive.
- Make an immediate RIGHT onto the service road which will take you up the hill and around the back of the Memorial for parking.
Driving from the Beltway (I-495), points east/north ("Inner Loop," i.e. from Baltimore or Largo, MD):
- Take I-495 South/I-95 South.
- Take the Telegraph Road NORTH exit (exit 176B-A for VA-241/Telegraph Rd toward Alexandria);
- From Telegraph Road, merge onto Duke Street (Rt. 236 East) via the ramp to Downtown Alexandria.
- Turn left onto Callahan Dr.
- Turn left onto the service road in front of the Memorial, which is before the intersection with King Street. It will take you up the hill and around the back of the Memorial for parking.
Driving from the Beltway (I-495), points northwest ("Outer Loop" – i.e. from Bethesda, MD; Tysons Corner, VA):
- Take I-495 South towards Richmond/Alexandria.
- Take the Telegraph Road NORTH exit (exit 176B for VA-241/Telegraph Rd toward Alexandria);
- From Telegraph Road, merge onto Duke Street (Rt. 236 East) via the ramp to Downtown Alexandria.
- Turn left onto Callahan Dr.
- Turn left onto the service road in front of the Memorial, which is before the intersection with King Street. It will take you up the hill and around the back of the Memorial for parking.
Driving from the Beltway (I-495), points west/south ("Outer Loop" – i.e. from Annandale, VA or Springfield, VA):
- Take I-495 East towards Alexandria.
- Take the Telegraph Road NORTH exit (exit 176B for VA-241/Telegraph Rd toward Alexandria);
- From Telegraph Road, merge onto Duke Street (Rt. 236 East) via the ramp to Downtown Alexandria.
- Turn left onto Callahan Dr.
- Turn left onto the service road in front of the Memorial, which is before the intersection with King Street. It will take you up the hill and around the back of the Memorial for parking.
Driving from points further west in Virginia (i.e. Fairfax, Centreville, Manassas):
- Take I-66 East towards Washington.
- Take the I-495 South exit towards Richmond/Alexandria.
- Take the Telegraph Road NORTH exit (exit 176B for VA-241/Telegraph Rd toward Alexandria);
- From Telegraph Road, merge onto Duke Street (Rt. 236 East) via the ramp to Downtown Alexandria.
- Turn left onto Callahan Dr.
- Turn left onto the service road in front of the Memorial, which is before the intersection with King Street. It will take you up the hill and around the back of the Memorial for parking.
